NOTE:WinTek was developed on a Win95 platform. It should run on 16bit-Windows either (Win3.1 and WfW) but we had no opportunity to test this!
Error | What to do: |
---|---|
contour lines cannot be filled | in the first release the "fill contour" checkbox is not working. The work around is to manually edit the wintek.ini file. Modify the entry "Fllung der Isolinien=" to 1 if there is another number in this line. |
Graphics of Windows, menus, dialogboxes etc. look odd or are not visible after working a while with WinTek. | There may be one or more functions that do not release the graphic devices of Windows properly. This error was not observed with Win95 yet. Therefore we are not able to reproduce it. Please, mail us what functions of WinTek you used before the error occured. The only solution is to restart Windows! Sorry! |
WinTek does not run under PC Tools Desktop | We do not have this software so we cannot check what is going on. Apologies for that.... |
a file is not completely read in | be sure that there is not a "*" sign in the dataset. The first release of WinTek also has problems reading in a dip direction of 0 degrees. Use 360 instead. |
the program crashes on exit if no data was loaded | known bug, don't worry... This one of the bugs that drives a programer crazy! We are looking for the cause of that bug since 6 months... |
the program crashes whenever a dialog box is about to open | make sure that you have a file called "bwcc.dll" somewhere on your system. If not, download it from the Erlangen software page and install it into your "windows/system/" directory. |
the program is exceedingly slow, the graphics are odd or the program crashes at all | if you have a 386 SX or 486 SX or lower, you need a math. coprocessor! |
German menu entry, warning or error message, spelling or translation error | please report it and include a sample part of the text |
graphics within dialog boxes are scaled wrongly and placed somewhere on the screen | this is a problem of screen resolution and system font size ("large fonts", "small fonts") please report it and include graphics resolution and system font size if possible; please also include the title of the dialog |
most dialog boxes are too large to fit into the screen | WinTek is written on machines that use a 1024*768 pixels graphics adapter. However the dialogs should fit 800*600 and even 640*480 (not recommended!) screens. You probably have to play with the size of the "system font". See your Windows or graphics driver manual! |
after copying graphics to CorelDraw some lines are missing | have a look at the clipboard. If the graphic looks okay there, ask Corel Corp.
what they did to the Windows metafile format in version 3, 4, and 5! However, we try to find a workaround... if also the clipboard looks odd, please report the error. |
after copying graphics to WordPerfect an empty box appears | have a look at the clipboard. If the graphic looks okay there, ask WP or Novell or who currently owns the corp.
if also the clipboard looks odd, please report the error. |
contours are not drawn correctly, instead some odd straight lines appear | please report the error and include the data set and information about the counting interval and the number of contours |
