Please send bug reports concerning these binaries to [email protected] (and not to ORNL) unless you are certain that it is a general Ortep problem.

A note on other programs that might be useful in this context

An alternative X11/Ortep shell

This is a slightly modified version of the ortep-for-sun code that was written some years ago by Norimasa Yamazaki to provide an editor/previewer combination based on Sun's OpenView toolkit. (The original code is probably still available somewhere on ftp.osc.edu). I have only simplified his labelling code to work around a few huge memory leaks and adapted the code to Ortep III (and vice versa).

A simple SHELX to ORTEP converter module

This was originally written by Mike Burnett of ORNL, and later modified (not necessarily improved) by me.

6.08.2001: new version (handles symm cards with lots of whitespace, like those created by PLATON)
